Lincoln Medical Center is the first hospital in the Bronx to receive the designation "baby friendly" by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.
The World Health Organization recognized the hospital for its efforts in improving and promoting breastfeeding measures in the hospital.
Lincoln Medical Center hopes to expand its program and has free breastfeeding classes and clubs throughout the week.
"It was really the entire medical staff...They really united together to make this happen," said Alana Taubman, a lactation consultant.
