A community staple in Throgs Neck has closed its doors for good.
Louis Seafood on East Tremont Avenue closed due to legal issues with the landlord, according to the Moschetta family, the owners. The business had been open since 1947, and the closure was announced early this month.
"We want to thank all our loyal customers far and near for all of their support throughout the years," wrote the Moschettas. "It has been our pleasure knowing so many of you by your name and considering all of you a part of the family."
Residents are heartbroken over Louis Seafood leaving the neighborhood.
"I'm living in the neighborhood over 40 years, and we've eaten here so often; and I feel a piece of Throgs Neck is gone," said a resident.
