Man appears before judge in hit-and-run death of 7-year-old boy
A man accused of running down a 7-year-old with an SUV appeared before a judge today.
A Bronx judge denied Kwasi Oduro's request to get his SUV back from police. The judge ordered the vehicle remain with police because it is evidence.
Oduro claims that his brakes malfunctioned causing the fatal accident.
His Mercedes was seen on surveillance video backing into a Kennedy Fried Chicken restaurant on Westchester Avenue in June, then speeding off.
Police say the impact killed 7-year-old Ethan Villiancenio, who was sitting in a booth with his family.
Oduro is free on $10,000 bail.
A hearing to prepare for trial is scheduled for Feb. 15.
