Police have arrested a man accused of stabbing a 62-year-old home health aide several times Sunday in one of her patient's apartments on West Farms Road, authorities say.
Video shows the unnamed victim staggering out of the third-floor apartment just before 1 p.m. The victim knocked on neighbors' doors, begging for help before collapsing.
Police say her attack stabbed her several times in the neck, chest, armpits and arms.
The suspect, Marcus Gomez, taken out of the apartment minutes later in handcuffs and appeared to be wearing a gown.
Neighbor say he is a relative of the health aide’s patient. Police say Gomez is a patient of Creedmore Psychiatric Center in Queens.
Gomez faces charges of felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment. The district attorney's office says Gomez has not been arraigned yet because he is being held in psychiatric care.
Authorities say the victim is trying to recover from serious injuries.
News 12 reached out to Creedmore Psychiatric Facility for a statement but did not immediately receive a response.
