A Connecticut man lost his car after he says a parking lot attendant in the Bronx gave it to the wrong person.
Eugene Jackson lives and works in Connecticut but was taking classes in the borough this weekend so he parked his car in the lot on Jerome Avenue. While he was in class, he says a man was able to drive off from the lot with it.
Jackson says it was around 8:45 a.m. Saturday when he drove his 2015 Hyundai Sonata to Kingsbridge Parking Corporation, which shares a lot with the Morton Williams Grocery Store. He says when he got back to the lot around 2 p.m. with his ticket, the attendant told him he gave the car keys to a person who described himself as being the car owner’s brother and drove off without paying.
Jackson had to spend the night at his sister’s house, who lives in the Bronx.
Jackson says no worker from the lot company apologized to him or took fault. He says the boss told him his insurance will take care of it.
News 12 contacted the lot owner and he says he never mentioned Jackson’s insurance company being responsible for the incident. Instead, the owner says he told Jackson that once the investigation is over and the police and insurance company confirm the car as stolen, then he will take full responsibility.
