A memorial is in place where a mother and daughter were found dead in Tremont Saturday after police say they were killed by the mother's longtime boyfriend.

Police say they're working to figure out if the mother and daughter died yesterday or sometime earlier this week.

Officials tell News 12 they were discovered by a family member Saturday afternoon. The mother and daughter have been identified as Linda Manigault, 34, and Heaven Ross, 10.

Police say they found a 32-year-old man believed to be the mother's boyfriend with a gunshot wound to the head. They say he's responsible for both deaths.

He was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The medical examiner has not determined a cause of death in both cases.
