Memorial service held to honor slain pregnant woman
Family and friends are mourning the loss of a pregnant mother who was stabbed to death Thursday night.
A memorial service was held Monday outside the home of 22-year-old Angelikque Sutton for her and to honor the life of her newborn baby.
Police say Sutton's childhood friend, Ashleigh Wade, cut the newborn from Sutton's stomach after an argument Thursday evening.
Authorities say Wade then claimed Sutton's child was hers. Investigators are unsure what led to the attack.
News 12 is told the infant, whom Sutton named Genesis, was taken Montefiore Medical Center and is reportedly doing well.
Police say Wade has been arrested on several charges, including second-degree murder.
