Calling all artists! A Bronx business is looking for local talent to help with a new project before children head back to school.
While children head to the eye doctor before school starts, Metro Optics in Throgs Neck hopes to offer something creative to help pass the time.

Metro Optics is calling on Bronx artists to submit their sketches to be featured in a 12 to 16-page coloring book that will be offered in all of their four locations in the Bronx.

“We really want to feature Bronx artists. The theme of this book will be eyes, glasses, the Bronx, small businesses, any of those or even technology. We have a wearable technology section here at the Throgs Neck location wanted to include all of those things and of course leave room for creativity,” says Sara Bonizio, of Metro Optics Marketing.

The company chose a coloring book to not only keep the smaller customers busy while they wait, but to spark something bigger.
“It’s my hope that engaging with a book that reflects the community that you're from, artists who are working where you grow up might inspire an interest in the arts but I just think it's important that people are proud of where they're from,” says Bonizio.

Bronx artists have until July 31 to submit their work.
