Morris Park business owners want to form new BID
Morris Park business owners want to create a new Business Improvement District in the neighborhood.
BIDs are partnerships between property owners and the city that aim to provide services like daily street sweeping, snow removal and campaigns to promote business in the area.
Local small business owners say they stretch themselves thin taking care of those things themselves.
"We just want to help the neighborhood and try to push the neighborhood forward into the future," says William Pedone, who owns Van Nest hardware, which has been open in Morris Park for more than 90 years.
Similar BIDs in Westchester Square and Belmont have had success, supporters say.
