Morris Park businesses foot the bill for holiday lights
Businesses in Morris Park say they put up the funds to decorate the area with holiday lights when no one else would.
Bronx Assembly members Mark Gjonaj and Michael Benedetto joined Sen. Jeff Klein and the Morris Park Community Association to announce Monday that they have come together to bring the highly anticipated holiday lights to the Lydig Avenue and Morris Park Avenue business corridors.
Business owners say they started receiving calls around Thanksgiving from neighbors asking where the holiday lights were and why they weren't set up yet.
The business owners say there almost weren't any holiday lights because most of the stores in the area didn't have to funds to keep decorating the area year after year.
However, a few business owners made a deal with a local holiday light company who promised to decorate the area and accept payment at a later date.
