A grieving mother held a community barbecue Saturday in memory of her 17-year-old son, who was gunned down in Morrisania.
Alphonza Bryant was fatally shot in the torso in 2013 by members of the Latin Kings Gang.
He was apparently not the intended target of the shooting.
This is the second year Jenaii Van Doten has held a gathering around the anniversary of her son's death on April 22.
She says it is a time when family and friends can reminisce and remember the young man they lost.
The barbecue also aims to raise awareness about gun violence.
