Mother of slain 12-year-old: "18 months behind bars is not enough"
The mother of the 12-year-old boy who was shot to death in Bridgeport is upset Friday after learning the recommended sentence for those responsible.
Clinton Howell was shot to death outside his home a week before Christmas. A 12-year-old and 14-year-old are facing juvenile charges in the case. The sentencing recommendation revealed in court Thursday for both juveniles was 18 months behind bars.
The grieving mom tells News 12 she's frustrated the accessory charges the juveniles are facing brought such low recommended sentences. The two juveniles were not the ones who pulled the trigger.
"The 18 months is not enough for me, it's not enough," says Dawkins. "What is 18 months, just a slap on the wrist, a year and a half, that goes by like 1, 2, 3."
Two adults have been charged with murder in this case.
The two juveniles are due back in court Jan. 30, and sentencing is expected to take place in six weeks.
