The mother of a 15-year-old who was killed inside his high school met privately with the Bronx district attorney Tuesday afternoon.
Louna Davis, mother of Matthew McCree, and her attorney said they were contacted by a teacher at the Urban Assembly School for Wildlife Conservation who is willing to provide information about negligence inside the school.
According to police, McCree and his 16-year-old friend Arianne Laboy were stabbed by a fellow classmate, 18-year-old Abel Cedeno. McCree died, and Laboy was seriously injured.
Two weeks ago, an upset Davis spoke about Cedeno's release after he made bail. He received public support after his attorneys say the stabbing was the result of persistent bullying by other students at the school. But Davis said Tuesday that she was pleased with the outcome of her conversation with the district attorney.
"I appreciate the district attorney meeting with me and I appreciate her assuring me that they're doing everything possible to get justice for my son and that we are first priority," she said. "So that brings me some sort of comfort and this whistleblower, I appreciate everything he's doing for me."
McCree would have celebrated his 16th birthday next week.
