Mott Haven residents fed up with trash
Some Mott Haven residents have had enough of the trash that they say has taken over their block.
According to neighbors on East 134th Street and Willis Avenue, heavy car and foot traffic is to blame for the growing amounts of litter and animal feces. They complain that the Department of Sanitation will clear out big items, but not much else.
Residents also say they're frustrated because the Willis Avenue Bridge was recently remodeled, but the surrounding area isn't up to par because of its garbage problem.
The Department of Transportation says it's aware of the issue and has been working to resolve it with trash removal several times a month. News 12 also reached out to the Department of Sanitation, but has not yet heard back.
