Hundreds of people showed up to the funeral service at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York to say a final goodbye to the late Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson.
Thompson was a man many looked up to as he was the first African-American district attorney in Brooklyn.
Crowds of people were waiting at least an hour before the service to pay their respects.
Thompson lost his battle with cancer last Sunday at the age of 50.
He started office in 2014.
One of Thompson's first moves as DA was to create a conviction review unit and since it was established 21 people have been exonerated.
Many politicians including Mayor Bill de Blasio and Governor Andrew Cuomo are expected to be in attendance.
Thompson leaves behind his wife and two young children.
