The MTA may consider cutting thousands of jobs, including some at the Long Island Railroad.
An outside consulting firm is working on a plan to save between $370 million and $530 million a year.
The plan calls for the elimination of almost 2,000 jobs.

The MTA board will vote on the plan next Wednesday.
