The head of the MTA has announced he is resigning.

The head of the MTA has announced he is resigning.
Andy Byford, the president of the NYC Transit Authority, announced Thursday that he is stepping down.
Byford was first appointed to that position in January 2018.
MTA chairman Pat Foye released a statement reading in part, "Andy was instrumental in moving the system forward, enacting the successful subway action plan and securing record capital funding with the governor and the legislature, and we wish him well in his next chapter."
