A community conversation with MTA President Andy Byford is being held at Hostos Community College about the city’s Fast Forward plan.
The event was heightened by the fact that Democrats have taken control of the state Senate. This is especially important because of the ongoing contention between Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo over who will pay for the plan to fix the subway.
Those in attendance filled out comment cards, so they can ask specific questions about how the plan will affect them and their commute.
The Fast Forward plan hopes to modernize New York City transit in less than 10 years with an estimated $37 billion price tag to fix infrastructure.
The mayor said earlier Wednesday that he thinks the state Senate can finally take on that leadership role to get the project funded.
