Multiple businesses were destroyed in a four-alarm fire Tuesday morning in Norwood.
Smoke filled the air as 168 FDNY crew members attempted to put out flames at a commercial strip on Bainbridge Avenue and East 204/206 St.
“We have a small business, we take care of our families and a couple employees were working,” said Mdmamun Bhuiyan, the owner of Shahjalal Grocery and Verity Inc. The Bangladeshi grocery store sits among those completely destroyed by the fire that started before 4 a.m., according to authorities.
What makes matters worse is that Bhuiyan has already dealt with a similar situation. In April 2009, News 12 reported a destructive fire that authorities say started at a bakery two doors down.
He says his business only experienced minor damages that time. Now, it's completely destroyed.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
