Muslims in Brooklyn observe Eid al-Adha with prayer
Muslim community members of East New York celebrated the beginning of the holy day of Eid al-Adha on Monday. Hundreds of worshipers gathered at Glenmore Avenue to take part in prayer services.

Muslim community members of East New York celebrated the beginning of the holy day of Eid al-Adha on Monday.
Hundreds of worshipers gathered at Glenmore Avenue to take part in prayer services.
Eid al-Adha is considered one of the holiest Muslim holidays.
It celebrates the honor and willingness of the profit Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. However, right before the sacrifice, an angel presents Abraham with a ram to slaughter instead.
This is the first year the holiday is being considered a public school holiday. The four-day holiday concludes on Wednesday.
