Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone has signed a new safety bill to help keep kids safe at school.
The bill will provide a smartphone app called RAVE to 450 schools.
RAVE has a panic button to alert police to active shooter and other emergencies.
It also provides first responders with information, including floor plans and points of entry to allow for quicker response times.
The system cost Suffolk $2 million.
Bellone says 15 school districts have used the RAVE app as part of a pilot program.
