Nassau County could begin testing first responders today for the coronavirus and antibodies.
The goal is to administer 20,000 of the tests to police officers, medics and corrections officers who have outbreaks in their ranks.
According to Newsday, the county will be using testing kits they secured from Melville-based Henry Schein.
The tests involve a simple finger-prick, and results are available in 15 minutes.
In the Nassau County Police Department alone, over 100 officers have tested positive and about 200 are in quarantine. The PBA says more needs to be done.
A total of 81 officers have been cleared to go back after testing positive.
First responders that want a test, need to call the police department's medical administrative office, which is setting up appointments.
