Neighbors suspect drug activity at McDonald’s restaurant
Some Bronx residents are expressing concern because they suspect a local McDonald's restaurant is a hotbed of drug activity and homelessness.
News 12 cameras stood outside the McDonald's on East Fordham Road for less than two hours and witnessed a couple sleeping and police arriving after receiving complaints.
The NYPD says that so far this year there have been reports of larceny, burglary, drug sales and two assaults at the location. They say one of the incidents involved an employee being attacked by a customer after being asked to leave.
Assemblyman Jose Rivera believes installing cameras inside the location may be the solution.
"Stop it because we are going to chase you out of here," Rivera said. "Either you walk away on your own or you will be arrested."
Many residents of the area say they know to keep their kids away from the restaurant, but hope the problem will be fixed.
