New Morris Park BID could boost neighborhood
After three years, business owners on Morris Park Avenue have achieved support to become part of a new business improvement district.
New BIDs require approval from the City Council and Mayor Bill de Blasio, but when they form, the designation allows them to invest into their neighborhoods.
Business owners say that being part of a BID allows them some control over how their taxes are spent. They also say that they will be able to breathe new life into the neighborhood.
They say new sidewalks and upgraded storefronts will help increase foot traffic and drive up business.
