The P.S. 42 Claremont Community School celebrated the opening of its newly renovated library Tuesday that had been closed for a decade.
The library now has bright-colored walls illustrated with story book pictures and brand-new shelves.
Principal Lucia Orduz told News 12 that the library was practically a “dumping ground” for furniture and boxes over the years.
She applied for a grant with Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson's Office, requesting capital funding for the creation of a library.
“I thought I was dreaming,” said Orduz, after seeing the new library.
It will serve more than 400 students at the school, as well as staff and parents.
