A singer-songwriter from New Jersey brought together some icons of folk music to make a music video urging people to vote.
The song "Vote" is written by Spook Handy, a New Brunswick-based musician who performs alongside many greats in the folk genre.
He says because folk music is rooted in giving voice to everyday people, this is the right message for this moment.
"It seems like it's appropriate to have that kind of down to earth, hokey kind of fun, playful, simple music behind it. Behind a very important message," the songwriter says.
The video, which was recorded remotely due to the pandemic, includes appearances by Paul Stookey of the group "Peter, Paul and Mary," and folk icon Tom Paxton.
