A new initiative hopes to tackle mental and emotional illnesses in New York City.
"Thrive NYC" is an $850 million program that addresses mental health and the lack of services available for it.
The program hopes to send 400 clinicians onto the city streets to talk to people in need by this summer.
"You have a lot of cultures that are here in New York City, a lot of cultures who don't recognize mental health or mental illness as something serious," says Brett Scudder, president of the Suicide Prevention Institute. "How do you bridge that communication gap?"
The program hopes to increase access to mental health care by training 250,000 people as mental health aid first responders.
