Students at Highbridge Green High School got a treat when a well-known rapper with local roots paid them a visit.

Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie hosted a school supply giveaway in the neighborhood that he grew up in Thursday.

A Boogie handed out backpacks and his trademark hoodies, while also taking time to sign memorabilia and offer advice.

"You see how people dream something and you don't think that dream could come true," said A Boogie. "I'm trying to show them it's not really a dream, it can come true. I'm right here, I came from here."

A Boogie made the visit during a busy time – as he prepares to release a new album and go on tour – but he says that he made a point to visit these students.
