A New York City woman who was one of the first to undergo a new treatment for fibroids at a Brooklyn hospital says the procedure was life changing.
For the past 13 years Arrian Eversley, 35, says she's suffered from pain because of fibroids.
The benign tumors grow inside a woman's uterus. They are made of tough muscle masses and won’t become cancerous, doctors say, but they can cause extreme pain.
According to the Office on Women's Health, 80 percent of women in the U.S will be effected by fibroids before the time they reach 50 years old.
Eversley was one of the first women at NYC Health and Hospitals Kings County to undergo a hysteroscopic myomectomy.
Doctors say the new procedure is unique because it preserves fertility in women and does not involve major surgery.
Eversley says the procedure has made a significant difference in her life.
