The New York City Housing Authority broke ground Friday on necessary repairs to the Superstorm Sandy-damaged Coney Island Houses.
The $90 million project aims to prevent future damage to the complex. Some of the complex's 1,100 tenants say they're glad that work has finally started.
State Assemblywoman Pamela Harris and City Councilman Mark Treyger were instrumental in getting money to fix 33 damaged NYCHA properties.
The work is expected to last about 29 months.
