Another overnight shooting in Brooklyn has left two people injured.
Police say the shooting took place in front of 187 Hoyt St. at around 2 a.m.
They say a 52-year-old man and a 41-year-old man were shot in the leg at the Gowanus Houses. No word yet on what may have led up to that shooting.
Police are continuing their investigation and no arrests have been made.
With an uptick in crime, Mayor Bill de Blasio has announced a new initiative set to go into effect this weekend. The initiative is the Central Brooklyn Violence Prevention, which aims to increase police presence in “hot spots” like Crown Heights and Bed-Stuy, where 1-year-old Davell Garder Jr. died earlier this week.
The community will also occupy said hot spots where community and clergy members will lead peace marches in the community. In addition, the initiative will also have resource fairs and mobile trauma units, among other efforts.
The program will go in effect this weekend.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call police.
