NYPD: 41 more crime complaints in July 2019 compared to last year

Officials say there were 41 more crime complaints last month -- up .5% compared to July 2018.

The NYPD has released its annual crime report and the statistics show an overall drop in crime this year compared to last year -- however, July did see an uptick in violent crimes throughout the city.
Officials say there were 41 more crime complaints last month -- up .5% compared to July 2018.
The crime stats show there were more murders last month compared to July 2018, as well.
Rape also jumped 10% for July 2019 compared to July 2018.
Shooting incidents for July 2019 dropped by 2%. However, year-to-date shootings are up by 5%.
The NYPD says it is continuing its effort to reduce crime in the city through numerous initiatives like, community policing and annual events like Tuesday's National Night Out.
