The NYPD says it's preparing for the 49th annual New York City Marathon to keep residents safe.

The department says all runners and people watching the race will be screened at the starting line and throughout the park.

It also says the lines have been painted, the preparations have been made and that the finish line has been reviewed by a group of children in a video posted to Twitter.

The department says there will also be thousands of officers on-hand to secure the marathon route.
