NYPD steps up patrols in city's Jewish communities

The NYPD is stepping up patrols in Jewish communities throughout the city as tensions flare in the Middle East.

Many worshippers at the Riverdale Temple, which was the target of an attempted bombing in 2009, say they're anxious over the increased violence in Israel. Militants have already launched several rockets into Tel Aviv since an Israeli offensive was launched in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday.

Officials insist there is no imminent threat locally and that added security is just a safety precaution.
