NYPD: Teen in custody for opening fire on Gerard Ave.
The suspect wanted for firing shots on a Bronx sidewalk has been taken into police custody.
Police believe the shooting may have been gang-related, saying the incident started with a dispute between a Manhattan crew and a Highbridge gang. They say the suspect recklessly shot down Gerard Avenue last Friday afternoon, almost striking multiple people, including a young girl who was seen running for cover.
No injuries were reported.
News 12 is told that the suspect has been charged as an adolescent with attempted murder, attempted assault and reckless endangerment, along with several weapons offenses.
