Police say they've arrested a man in connection to a fire at a building on Manor Avenue in Soundview Wednesday.
Officials say the fire started on the second floor just before 11 a.m.
Police have identified the suspect as 50-year-old Mark Taylor.
Surveillance footage from a Mobil Gas Station, located across the street from the building, shows what appears to be Taylor going up to the register with a canister to purchase gas, then walking over to the pump to fill it.
Police say Taylor forced his way into his wife's second-floor apartment and poured an accelerant onto a bed and lit it on fire.
Employees say the man in the video told them his car broke down around the corner and that he needed just 50 cents of gas.
Police tells News 12 the wife has an active order of protection against Taylor, and that she wasn't home at the time of the incident.
Taylor is charged with second-degree arson.
No injuries were reported, but two people are displaced from their home.
