Officials: Suspicious fire damages apartments on Belmont Avenue
A fire that started on the roof of 20-37 Belmont Ave. damaged at least three apartments Saturday afternoon, officials say.
Tenants and neighbors to the building were evacuated after the blaze began just after 3 p.m.
There were no injuries.
Fire officials told News 12 The Bronx that a contractor had been working on the roof hours before the incident. The fire has been labeled as suspicious, but officials have not confirmed its cause.
The Red Cross is helping families that have been displaced by the fire.
