Firefighters and police rushed to the scene of an SUV that burst into flames Friday in Fordham.

The incident happened between Fordham Road and Valentine Avenue. The loud boom of exploding tires caused some people to quickly escape the area as smoke rose higher.

Some witnesses recorded video of the ablaze SUV.

Carlos Guevara, who runs a food stand at the intersection, says he sprang into action with someone else to try and extinguish the fire, but the flames were too severe.

The owner of the car was able to escape unharmed.
