Olympian, Manhattan College alum to coach runners in Rio
Even though Manhattan College alum Aliann Pompey won't be competing in this year's Olympic games, she is still heading to Rio.
Pompey reached the Olympics four times, running the 400-meter race for her native Guyana. She reached the semi-finals twice.
Now retired, Pompey coaches at St. John's University, and will head to Rio to help guide the next generation of Guyanese runners through their first games.
"Being able to make an impact at their first Olympics, I think that sets them up really nicely," she says.
