Community organizers beautified Norwood Saturday to honor domestic violence victims.
Guerino Against Graffiti says it organized the event in hope to create less chaos in the streets, which could lead to less chaos in homes. Volunteers grabbed booms and swept up garbage in the streets, as well as painted fences to get rid of graffiti.
The event was also to honor domestic violence victims that have survived or lost their battle. Experts say just raising awareness about domestic violence is important.
Guerino Against Graffiti is also pushing for legislation in Albany to help protect domestic violence victims.
The Bronx has four times more domestic violence victims than any other borough in New York City.
