Parents upset to learn preschool is closing Friday
Parents in Throgs Neck say they are upset to recently learn that their children's preschool will close in a few days.
The parents of all 27 kids who attend the Throgs Necks Early Learning Center learned less than two weeks ago that the center will close. They say the Department of Health will close the center on Friday.
Workers say the school is safe and meets all the requirements, but since they weren't given a director in the last six months since their license expired, they will have to close. They say the city has told them that the school doesn't meet the standards because the school is using a director from other Tremont Crotona Day Care Center locations to oversee operations.
Parents say the city had a year and a half to inform them of what was going on and should have told them sooner.
They also say there have been no meetings to help them find other options.
