Park in Canarsie renamed after former community Councilman John P. Salogub
A Canarsie triangle corner park is being renamed to honor a man who dedicated his life to helping others.
The newly renamed triangle is at the corner of Paedergate Avenue North and East 77th Street in Brooklyn.
Thanks to funding from Councilman Alan Maisel, the corner has been renamed John P. Salogub Triangle.
Salogun was a member of the 69th Precinct Community Council and an auxiliary Coast Guard officer, but he also served as post commander with the VFW and helped organize the local Memorial Day parade.
His family say they are happy to know his memory will live on.
The improvement will now be part of Canarsie's history and community, a history Salogun's family says he helped make so great.
