Parks Department: Water advisory lifted at Orchard Beach
A water advisory for swimmers at Orchard Beach in the Bronx has been lifted, according to the city's Parks Department.
Health officials were at Orchard Beach Thursday collecting and testing water samples for traces of bacteria.
The Department of Health placed signs around the beach advising swimmers not to go in the water because of the bacteria. 
Some believe the contamination could have been related to sewage or storm runoff. However, officials say the exact source of the bacteria is not yet known.

For future information on advisories, beachgoers can use the city's Health Department "Know Before You Go" text messaging service. Beachgoers can text "beach" or "playa" 877877 to sign up for the service.
