A Bronx family is searching for their Labrador service dog, who they believe was taken by two women outside of a local express deli.
On Tuesday evening, Luisa and Hector Castro walked from their home to an express deli with their daughter’s service dog. They say they left their dog on its leash for eight minutes outside the store.
After returning to see their dog’s leash was chewed up, they returned to the deli where they were shown surveillance footage from outside of the store.
Footage shows two women walking away from the scene with a dog on a leash just within the time frame that he had gone missing.
The Castros believe the women in the footage took their dog Jake.
Jake serves the family’s 8-year-old daughter who suffers from anxiety attacks.
News 12 is told the family has filed a police report and that the NYPD is searching for the women and the missing dog.
The Castros have been posting fliers throughout the neighborhood and are offering a $200 reward for their dog’s return.
