Permanent deer warning sign put up in The Bronx
A warning sign has been installed on Shore Road after numerous deer sightings by local residents.
Last year, temporary signs were put up alerting people to the deer in the area, but residents called for permanent signage.
Councilman James Vacca says this will be a continuous reminder for drivers to be safe in this part of the North Bronx.
"The reality is that Pelham Bay Park is the largest park in the city, and we've had deer sightings and we want motorist to be especially aware," says Vacca. "And these signs give you an indication of what you may expect to see one day."
There are now three signs in the area. Drivers are advised to slow down in the area to allow more time to stop if a deer crosses their path.
