Photography exhibit shines light on Hispanic heritage
A new photography exhibit at the Bronx Museum of the Arts is shining a light on Hispanic heritage.
Artist Frank Gimpaya's series of pictures titled "Mask" portrays a woman wearing wearing a mask and is designed to make people question who they really are.
The museum says the artist is part of a nonprofit group called En Foco, which was founded by Puerto Rican photographers who felt they were not being properly portrayed.
In the description for the artwork, the museum quotes A. Eric Arctander, an artist who once stated, "A mask does not hide an identity. It is an identity."
