Police say an 11-year-old girl was killed in a five-car pileup on the Major Deegan Expressway Saturday night.

They say the accident happened around 10:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Exit 7.

Police say the girl suffered severe body trauma when the cars crashed into each other. They say at least four others in the same vehicle as the girl were injured.

First responders rushed the girl to the hospital, but she did not survive.

The accident caused severe traffic as ambulances and police officers made their way to the scene.

News 12 is told no arrests have been made.
