A 13-year-old boy was arrested and charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse of a 3-year-old girl inside a Bronx shelter.
The girl’s parents say the abuse occurred at a family shelter on Manor Avenue in Soundview.
The couple, who News 12 is not identifying, says a neighbor reported the alleged abuse to a caseworker after claiming to have witnessed it in a hallway.
The parents then made a report with authorities on Nov. 3. Health officials believe their daughter was repeatedly molested for possibly two months.
The family was transferred to a new shelter as police conduct a criminal investigation. They say their daughter is in need of counseling and support.
A spokesperson for the city's Administration for Children's Services told News 12: "Our top priority is protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children in New York City. We are investigating this case with the NYPD."
