A teenager is recovering in the hospital after he was shot in a school yard Monday.
News 12 is told the 13-year-old boy was shot behind the School of Science and Applied Learning at 179th Street and Prospect Avenue around 10:30 p.m.
When police arrived, they say they found the teen shot in the chest.
He was taken to the hospital, where News 12 is told he is in stable condition.
An employee at the school told News 12 a group of teens hopped the fence around 10 p.m. to use the pool and minutes later police were called to escort them out. During that time, he says he heard gunshots between the pool area and the schools playground next door.
Investigators believe the victim might be connected to a string of cab robberies from last month involving three others.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
