Five people were killed and one person is in critical condition following a head-on crash on the Montauk Highway late Saturday, officials say.
The accident happened around 11 p.m. in Quogue.
They say a Nissan Maxima was driving at a fast rate of speed on Montauk Highway when it left its lane and crashed head-on with a Toyota Prius.
Those killed include 22-year-old Justin Mendez, who was in the Nissan.
The other victims were in the Prius. They include the driver 32-year-old Farhan Zahid, of Bay Shore.
His family says he was an Uber driver and a father of three children.
The passengers were 20-year-old Michael Farrell, 25-year-old James Farrell and 25-year-old Ryan Kiess, who were all from Manhasset.
Witnesses say more than 100 first responders rushed to the scene and used the jaws of life to extricate the victims.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene and a fifth died a short time later at Stony Brook Southhampton Hospital.
Another passenger, 22-year-old Brianna Magilio, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center and remains in critical condition.
